The Flow Chart

This is our flow chart. We are not so sure whether our flow chart is right or wrong but i think this is the way a flow chart should be..clean and clear. It took us quite a while to think of all the links and what not but we managed to finish it, and we finished our work in style :D

Finalized idea and Proposal

FINALIZED IDEA

Our topic ‘The Traditional Malay Wedding’ has made our research never ending, to find the most suitable layout and something that would suit our theme. We have finally decided to play around with Henna designs for our layout. We were inspired by Henna designs when we did a research on Henna Art. A combination of flowers with curvy lines and a touch of nature will be added in our Interactive Application. Lots of sketches have been done and here, we attach some of the finalized sketches that we have done so far.

THEME COLOUR

We have done some research on colours and as you can see below, these are the studies of colour combination. The usage of colours are very important in an interactive application, and colours brings out the true significance of what the application is all about. We have browsed through quite a number of wedding websites and it seems that most of them use light colours. And therefore, we have planned to use soft colours, like shades of brown and perhaps a pinch of gold here and there to bring out the majestic atmosphere throughout the application. Soft colours brings out a calm and soothing feeling. And the main reason why we chose this range of colours is because it goes well with the design we have come up with.

These are the range of colours we shall be using in our interactive application

We also have done some research on colors and what kind of colors are best in a special occasion. This is the link for the website that we entered to get some info on colors :http://www.worqx.com/color/combinations.htm

FONT

As for fonts, we will be using simple ones. For the Introduction page, the name of our topic-‘ Sekapur Sirih’ will be in cursive font and the rest of the fonts will be Serif style. We want our application to be be easily read by viewers. These are some example of fonts that we might be using :-

INTERACTIVE LINK

The first and far most important thing in our Interactive Application is of course-the Interactive link. We are going to make our interactivity interesting and user-friendly. First of all, our interactivity has to be visible. There are some interactive application or websites where the interactivity is not visible and therefore, its not easy to navigate. When people browse through our Interactive Application, we want to make sure that people enjoy every bit of it and that is why we want to make it as interesting as possible.

What we’re going to do is :-

1) Put a pair of hands on the stage

2) There will be a scroll-down buttons of Henna Design which users are free to pick whatever design they like with just a click of the mouse.

3) Users can then drag the design to the selected part of the hands, and it will automatically appear on the hands.

4) After putting Henna on the two hands, users can print the design directly from their printers to use as reference to put Henna on their hands using real Henna!

Here is the rough idea of how the interactive link is going to look like for reference:

Songket

These are some examples of kain Songket I got when I went to masjid India.

To be a King and a Queen for a day

As I posted the other day, we went to masjid india to take some pictures for our interactive application. I brought Nadia to do her henna for some photography session and today, we have discussed everything about our layout and we have came up with our theme. Me, Nadia and Noa have decided to do a very classy type of design...Noa is working on the sketches and I'm editing some of the images for the application. Nadia is currently searching for Information on Malay Traditional wedding. We are pleased to say that everything is going smoothly at the moment. But, we have just one tiny problem, and its about Director. I swear, I have no idea on how to create our layout using this Director thing. That's only thing that worries me now, hopefully we'll manage. I posted a small compilation of the pictures I took the other day went we went to Masjid India. Thats all for now, later then.

Kemerahan Inai

Hello there!

Nazri and I went to Masjid India on Friday last week and I got Henna done on my hands to take some photos and post them here, and perhaps use it for our interactive application. We also got pictures of Tradisional Songket Bridal Costume (went through a hassle just to take pics!}, the keris, Bunga telur, and Bunga Pahar pictures as well. We went to a shop that was selling the wedding Hantaran stuff, and also the merenjis equipments, so we managed to get some pictures taken there, after asking the manager! We were so scared he would refuse to let us take any pictures there! Oh,those are my hands in the picture, the inai looks goegeous! ;)

The layout and ideas~

Hello there!

Today my groupmates and I did some sketching of our layout, it was a rough sketch. Just to get and rough idea on how the layout is going to be when we digitize it. As for the moment, we have a few designs for the layout but we're not so sure about all of them. As usual, we have some problems coming up with ideas. Other than that, i think we did a good job on creating a rough design of our layout. Owh yeah, the designs were just for the main page, we haven't thought about other page layouts YET. We'll think of something soon. The only thing stopping us from including the sketches today is a scanner since we don't have one at the moment. Hurmmmm...it's hard to describe the design of our layout in words but all we can say is that our design is quite classy.
Till the next update then..tata.

our ideas~

Dear LiveJournal,

Today,Nazri, Noa and I discussed the layout for our interactive application. We did some sketching but unfortunately,we don't have a scanner to put it up here for you to see :( We will try to scan them as soon as possible and post them up here for people to view! Our design is however, very classy indeed. Our theme colour is most probably going to be either black and white or brownish-sephia tone-ish.We want to put as many pictures as possible because...well,a picture speaks a thousand words :D

Tomorrow, I am going to Masjid India, to get Henna done on my hands,so that my two groupmates-Nazri and Noa can use me as a model to take pictures of Henna! Yay! I'm sure it's going to be a fun day. As soon as we get the henna done,we will post the pictures here.

Signing off~

proposal on the first move

Introduction

Topic : Traditional Malay Wedding

Factors :

a) Being Malays ourselves, we get to learn more about our culture and the main reason we chose this topic for our Interactive Application is to not forget our roots and therefore maintain this ethnic ceremony for many many years to come.

b) Audience will get to see how the Traditional Malay Wedding’s are like and how different they are compared to weddings of other race’s.

c) Audience will learn more about Malay wedding, the bridal costumes, wedding music (kompang, serunai etc), gifts from the bridegroom’s entourage to the bride’s family and vice-versa, the big feast-(home-cooked food), the gift of appreciation for the guests and many more.

Age Target/Audience

- For adults-aged 20 and above.

Specifically for adults who want to learn more about our culture, for foreigners-to know about our unique culture and beliefs, and also for those who plan to get married and wish to do a Traditional Malay Wedding.

Purpose

- This interactive application is done for education purposes. We want to make this website as interesting as possible so that people can browse through our website and learn about Malaysian Culture.

Information Gathering

- Browse through internet to get more source and information on weddings

- Visit National Library to get books on Traditional wedding

- If possible, to attend a wedding ceremony and take photographs.

Sections/ Links

a) About us

- A brief info about our group and all about our ideas and so on.

b) History

- To brief about how weddings were many years ago.

a) The main ceremonies

-The first group of activities, all of which precede the actual wedding ceremony, consist of

(a) the investigation (merisik),

(b) the engagement or approach to formalise the arrangement (meminang),

(c) the hantaran or the sending of gifts and part of the amount of money (wang belanja) for expenses which the boy’s family give to the girl’s side that will be incurred by the girl’s family. The wang belanja is usually an amount of several thousand ringgit. It is different from the dowry (mas kahwin) which is also paid by the man to his future wife. The amount of the mas kahwin is usually fixed by the Islamic Religious Council in each state, but a potential bridegroom may give any amount above the official figure.

The second group of activities consists of the actual marriage ceremony (akad nikah) and berinai, while the third group of activities consists of berarak or arriving in procession, sitting on a decorated dias ( bersanding and the welcoming of the married couple to the bride’s house (sambut menantu).

c) Bridal Clothing

- Songket, Tengkolok

d) Wedding Music

- Kompang, Serunai

e) Bunga Telur & wedding equipments

- gift of appreciation for the guests

f) The big feast

- Neighbours and friends help to cook food to be served to guests.

g) Interactive link

Interactivity

The application must be a little bit fancy not like those boring and dull website we used to see when they come to such topic which is dry and not interesting to modern age people. So we are going to create something sleek and classy, with interaction that is smooth and stylish not to forget user friendly. Pop ups or sliding gallery for pictures. Handsome tabs for the links and as simple but yet interactive. Slow traditional music for the background music. And games for the ultimate interactive application links.

Tasks

- Noa is very good in illustrations, therefore we’ll keep him in charge of the graphics used in the interactive application

- Nazri will be the layout designer

- Nadia will be the one finding information for the interactive application.

Expected Difficulties

Expected difficulties that we will encounter is the problem of syncing the theme with modern interactivity. To make such topic interesting to modern people as our traditional heritage on these days are neglected. The interactivity links however is much more bigger case as to make something that is fully interactive using director ONLY which is not our specialties on this earlier stage.

Our first post of the day

Introduction

We have finally made up our minds on the topic that we are going to do for our final MCP assignment which is 'Traditional Malay Wedding'. The reason why we chose this topic is because, being Malays ourselves, we get to learn more about our culture and ethnics. We want to be able to attend a wedding,if possible, to take photographs of the auspicious event. Malay weddings usually goes on for a few days, from the day of the 'Berinai' (Henna wearring) till the night of the 'Bersanding' (both the bride and groom sit on the dais) . In the links of this interactive application we're working on, we hope to present the whole wedding procedure, from A to Z.

Introduction

We hope that this assignment will be an enjoyable one for us!
